Created in 2009 - 11" x 14"
In 2009 my grandmother, Angela found an article in the Los Angeles Times about artist, Alexander Girard, and his piece titled "Bouquet". She wrote on the side of the article "blue, red, yellow & bright colors", ripped it out of the newspaper and ask if I would draw her the flowers in my style. I smiled and gave her a kiss. I wasn't sure if Angela fully understood my artwork and how long they take to draw but I appreciated the thought. I didn't think much aboutthe flowersafter I left her house but I put the article safely away.
A month past and she never forgot about those flowers. Every couple weeks she would ask "how are my flowers coming along"? After three months I finally realized that I needed to create them for Angela.
Christmas was approaching and I decided to use her inspiration from the article. On Christmas morning Angela unwrapped her present and "Angela's Bouquet" was born. I turned the artwork into greeting cards knowing she would use them and look at it everyday. "Angela's Bouquet" was my first Viz Art Ink greeting card. Her card was such a success that I continued to add to my collection.
On January 15, 2019 Angela Ecker passed away, she was 95 years old. We were honored to be able to spend our last Christmas with her in 2018. She will always be remembered and I will forever be grateful for all the love, smiles, laughs, hugs, kisses, support and cookies. She could brighten up your day with her cooking, kind words or her beautiful sense of humor. Angela was truly an angel and will be missed deeply but she will always live on in my heART. Thank you Angela for sharing your gift with the world and may "Angela's Bouquet" live on forever.
