Greeting Card - A Time of Football

Greeting Card - 5" x 7"
Created in 2013

"A Time of Football" is my way of showing respect for all the leather heads who paved the way for this great American sport and for the current players who still enjoy football for the love of the game.

American football was derived from rugby in 1879 by Walter Camp "Father of American Football" but it took 40 years for the National Football League (NFL) to be created in 1920.

William "Pudge" Heffelfinger, an all-American guard from Yale, was hired for the Allegheny Athletic Association on November 12, 1892 for $500 to play in a game against the rival Pittsburgh Athletic Club. In 1970, the Players Association won recognition and the owners agreed to a $9,000 minimum salary for rookies and $10,000 for veterans. Currently the NFL consist of 32 teams with an average salary of $1,900,000.
