"Off California" is a dedication and recreation of the famous woodcut, "Mt. Fuji Seen Through the Waves Off Kanagawa", by artist Katsushika Hokusai. Viz had always loved the woodcut but had visualized a sunset in place of Mt. Fuji. Hidden inside the waves are dedications to Hokusai. You will find his name, the year he was born and died, Tokyo Japan and more. Objects hidden throughout the sunset represent California. Viz mixed the two artists and combined two different eras to create "Off California".
